The ObjectType enum and ObjectOptions are included from qapi-types-qom.h
into common code. We should not use target-specific config switches like
CONFIG_VIRTIO_CRYPTO here, since this is not defined in common code and
thus the enum will look differently between common and target specific
code. For this case, it's hopefully enough to check for CONFIG_VHOST_CRYPTO
only (which is a host specific config switch, i.e. it's the same on all
targets).

Thus we never remove this option. Since it's not such a big burden to

we should remove it from he deprecation list again.

The status of the gitlab-CI files is currently somewhat confusing, and
it is often not quite clear whether a patch should go via my tree or
via the testing tree of Alex. That situation has grown historically...
Initially, I was the only one using the gitlab-CI, just for my private
repository there. But in the course of time, the gitlab-CI switched to
use the containers from tests/docker/ (which is not part of the gitlab-CI
section in the MAINTAINERS file), and QEMU now even switched to gitlab.com
completely for the repository and will soon use it as its gating CI, too,
so it makes way more sense if the gitlab-ci.yml files belong to the people
who are owning the qemu-project on gitlab.com and take care of the gitlab
CI there. Thus let's merge the gitlab-ci section into the common "test and
build automation" section.
And while we're at it, I'm also removing the line with Fam there for now,
since he was hardly active during the last years in this area anymore.
If he ever gets more time for this part again in the future, we surely
can add the line back again. I'm also removing the Patchew URL from this
section now since Patchew's files are not tracked in the main QEMU repo
and it is also not maintained by Alex, Philippe and myself.
The maintainers of Patchew are still listed more accurately in the wiki on
https://wiki.qemu.org/AdminContacts & https://wiki.qemu.org/Testing/CI/Patchew
instead.
Now to avoid that Alex is listed here in this section alone, Philippe and
I agreed to help as backup maintainers here, too. And Willian volunteered
to be an additional reviewer.

Even though the host machines that run the Travis CI jobs have
quite a lot of CPUs (e.g. nproc in an aarch64 job reports 32), the
containers on Travis are still limited to 2 vCPUs according to:
https://docs.travis-ci.com/user/reference/overview/#approx-boot-time
So we do not gain much when compiling with a job number based on
the output of "getconf _NPROCESSORS_ONLN" - quite the contrary, the
aarch64 containers are currently aborting quite often since they
are running out of memory. Thus let's rather use a fixed number
like 3 in the jobs here, so that e.g. two threads can actively run
while a third one might be waiting for I/O operations to complete.

Currently, our check-system-* jobs are recompiling the whole sources
again. This happens due to the fact that the jobs are checking out
the whole source tree and required submodules again, and only try
to use the "build" directory with the binaries and object files as an
artifact from the previous stage - which simply does not work right
anymore (with the current version of meson). Due to some changed
time stamps, meson/ninja are always trying to rebuild the whole tree.
In the long run, we could likely use "meson test --no-rebuild", but
there is still some work going on in that area to improve the user
experience. So until this has been done, simply avoid recompiling the
sources with a trick: pass NINJA=":" to the make process in the test
jobs. Also check out the submodules manually before updating the
timestamps in the build folder, so that the binaries are definitely
newer that all the source files.
This saves ca. 10 - 15 minutes of precious CI cycles in each run.

Let's stop doing that in at least a couple of jobs and use the system

When compiling with -Werror=implicit-fallthrough, the compiler complains
about a missing fallthrough annotation in this file. Looking at the code,
the fallthrough is indeed wanted here, so let's add a proper comment.

To be able to compile this file with -Werror=implicit-fallthrough,
we need to add some fallthrough annotations to the case statements
that might fall through. Unfortunately, the typical "/* fallthrough */"
comments do not work here as expected since some case labels are
wrapped in macros and the compiler fails to match the comments in
this case. But using __attribute__((fallthrough)) seems to work fine,
so let's use that instead (by introducing a new QEMU_FALLTHROUGH
macro in our compiler.h header file).

When compiling with -Werror=implicit-fallthrough, gcc complains about

annotations, it can be done more efficiently by simply calculating
the offset with a subtraction instead of increasing a local variable

The man page does not contain all the chapters from the System Emulation
Users Guide, so some of the links that we've put into the qemu options
descriptions can not be resolved and thus the link names are used in the
man pages instead. These link names currently contain weird "_005f" letters
in the middle and just do not make any sense for the users. To avoid this
situation, replace the link names with more descriptive, natural text.

QTEST_QEMU_BINARY environment variable, for example:
$ QTEST_QEMU_BINARY=x86_64-softmmu/qemu-system-x86_64 tests/qtest/test-hmp
However, if you specify a binary without a path, for example with
QTEST_QEMU_BINARY=qemu-system-x86_64 if the QEMU binary is in your
$PATH, then the test currently simply crashes.
Let's try a little bit smarter here by looking for the final '-'
instead of the slash.

deprecated since years, it's marked with QEMU_ARCH_I386 (which does
not make sense anymore since KVM is available on other architectures,
too), it does not do anything by default in upstream QEMU (since TCG
is the default here anyway), and we're spending too much precious time
each year discussing whether it makes sense to keep this option as a
nice suger or not... let's finally put an end on this and remove it.

and there are no images for testing available this CPU, so the code has
likely bit-rotten in the course of time. When I asked the maintainer

https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/qemu-devel/2020-08/msg07201.html).
The last Signed-off-by line from Anthony in our repo is from 2013,
so it seems like this code is rather unmaintained. Time to put it onto
the deprecation list to see whether somebody is still interested in this
code or whether we could remove it in a couple of releases.

modify the ACPI stuff of either ARM or x86, just because the
bios-table-test is often slightly involved here. I can't say
much about ACPI, and the bios-table-test is already covered
by the ACPI section in MAINTAINERS, so I'd rather prefer to
not getting automatically CC-ed on such patch series anymore.
If people want my opinion about qtest-related changes, they
can still put me on CC manually.

Some of the qtests use "-accel kvm -accel tcg" to run real guest code.
This causes some error messages when kvm is not available. We do not
really care about these messages since the fallback to tcg is expected
here. So let's silence them to avoid that they spoil the output of
the tests.
Unfortunately, we can not use the qtest_enabled() wrapper in this case,
since the qtest accelerator itself is not initialized. Thus we have to
test for the qtest_chrdev variable instead.

1) Booting with "bootindex" is the architected default behavior on the
s390x target, so we should have at least one test that is using the
"bootindex" property.
2) The s390-ccw bios used to fail when other unbootable devices have
been specified before the bootable device (without "bootindex"). Now
that the s390-ccw bios is a little bit smarter here, we should test
this scenario, too, to avoid regressions.
