Alexey Kardashevskiy 87262806cb spapr: Allow changing offset for -kernel image
This allows moving the kernel in the guest memory. The option is useful
for step debugging (as Linux is linked at 0x0); it also allows loading
grub which is normally linked to run at 0x20000.

This uses the existing kernel address by default.

Alexey Kardashevskiy a49f62b9fd spapr: Add /chosen to FDT only at reset time to preserve kernel and initramdisk
Since "spapr: Render full FDT on ibm,client-architecture-support" we build
the entire flatten device tree (FDT) twice - at the reset time and
when "ibm,client-architecture-support" (CAS) is called. The full FDT from
CAS is then applied on top of the SLOF internal device tree.

This is mostly ok, however there is a case when the QEMU is started with
-initrd and for some reason the guest decided to move/unpack the init RAM
disk image - the guest correctly notifies SLOF about the change but
at CAS it is overridden with the QEMU initial location addresses and
the guest may fail to boot if the original initrd memory was changed.

This fixes the problem by only adding the /chosen node at the reset time
to prevent the original QEMU's linux,initrd-start/linux,initrd-end to
override the updated addresses.

This only treats /chosen differently as we know there is a special case
already and it is unlikely anything else will need to change /chosen at CAS
we are better off not touching /chosen after we handed it over to SLOF.

Alexey Kardashevskiy e68cd0cb5c spapr: Render full FDT on ibm,client-architecture-support
The ibm,client-architecture-support call is a way for the guest to
negotiate capabilities with a hypervisor. It is implemented as:
- the guest calls SLOF via client interface;
- SLOF calls QEMU (H_CAS hypercall) with an options vector from the guest;
- QEMU returns a device tree diff (which uses FDT format with
an additional header before it);
- SLOF walks through the partial diff tree and updates its internal tree
with the values from the diff.

This changes QEMU to simply re-render the entire tree and send it as
an update. SLOF can handle this already mostly, [1] is needed before this
can be applied. This stores the resulting tree in the spapr machine to have
the latest valid FDT copy possible (this should not matter much as
H_UPDATE_DT happens right after that but nevertheless).

The benefit is reduced code size as there is no need for another set of
DT rendering helpers such as spapr_fixup_cpu_dt().

The downside is that the updates are bigger now (as they include all
nodes and properties) but the difference on a '-smp 256,threads=1' system
before/after is 2.35s vs. 2.5s.

Alexey Kardashevskiy c4ec08ab70 spapr-pci: Stop providing assigned-addresses
QEMU does not allocate PCI resources (BARs) in any case - coldplug devices
are configured by the firmware and hotplug devices rely on the guest
system to do the assignment via the PCI rescan mechanism. Also in order
to create non empty "assigned-addresses", the device has to be enabled
(i.e. PCI_COMMAND needs the MMIO bit set) first as otherwise
io_regions[i].addr are -1, and devices are not enabled at this point.

This removes "assigned-addresses" and leaves it to those who actually
do resource allocation.

Alexey Kardashevskiy 5ced78955f spapr: Do not put empty properties for -kernel/-initrd/-append
We are going to use spapr_build_fdt() for the boot time FDT and as an
update for SLOF during handling of H_CAS. SLOF will apply all properties
from the QEMU's FDT which is usually ok unless there are properties
changed by grub or guest kernel. The properties are:
bootargs, linux,initrd-start, linux,initrd-end, linux,stdout-path,
linux,rtas-base, linux,rtas-entry. Resetting those during CAS will most
likely cause grub failure.

Don't create such properties if we're booting without "-kernel" and
"-initrd" so they won't get included into the DT update blob and
therefore the guest is more likely to boot successfully.

Alexey Kardashevskiy 972bd57689 ppc/kvm: Skip writing DPDES back when in run time state
On POWER8 systems the Directed Privileged Door-bell Exception State
register (DPDES) stores doorbell pending status, one bit per a thread
of a core, set by "msgsndp" instruction. The register is shared among
threads of the same core and KVM on POWER9 emulates it in a similar way
(POWER9 does not have DPDES).

DPDES is shared but QEMU assumes all SPRs are per thread so the only safe
way to write DPDES back to VCPU before running a guest is doing so
while all threads are pulled out of the guest so DPDES cannot change.
There is only one situation when this condition is met: incoming migration
when all threads are stopped. Otherwise any QEMU HMP/QMP command causing
kvm_arch_put_registers() (for example printing registers or dumping memory)
can clobber DPDES in a race with other vcpu threads.

This changes DPDES handling so it is not written to KVM at runtime.

Alexey Kardashevskiy 6c3829a265 spapr_pci: Advertise BAR reallocation capability
The pseries guests do not normally allocate PCI resources and rely on
the system firmware doing so. Furthermore at least at some point in
the past the pseries guests won't even allowed to change BARs, probably
it is still the case for phyp. So since the initial commit we have [1]
which prevents resource reallocation.

This is not a problem until we want specific BAR alignments, for example,
PAGE_SIZE==64k to make sure we can still map MMIO BARs directly. For
the boot time devices we handle this in SLOF [2] but since QEMU's RTAS
does not allocate BARs, the guest does this instead and does not align
BARs even if Linux is given pci=resource_alignment=16@pci:0:0 as
PCI_PROBE_ONLY makes Linux ignore alignment requests.

ARM folks added a dial to control PCI_PROBE_ONLY via the device tree [3].
This makes use of the dial to advertise to the guest that we can handle
BAR reassignments. This limits the change to the latest pseries machine
to avoid old guests explosion.

We do not remove the flag from [1] as pseries guests are still supported
under phyp so having that removed may cause problems.

Alexey Kardashevskiy cfc61ba62f target/ppc: Add Directed Privileged Door-bell Exception State (DPDES) SPR
DPDES stores a status of a doorbell message and if it is lost in

Alexey Kardashevskiy 8072aae377 hmp: Print if memory section is registered with an accelerator
This adds an accelerator name to the "into mtree -f" to tell the user if
a particular memory section is registered with the accelerator;
the primary user for this is KVM and such information is useful
for debugging purposes.

This adds a has_memory() callback to the accelerator class allowing any
accelerator to have a label in that memory tree dump.

Since memory sections are passed to memory listeners and get registered
in accelerators (rather than memory regions), this only prints new labels
for flatviews attached to the system address space.

Alexey Kardashevskiy ec132efaa8 spapr: Support NVIDIA V100 GPU with NVLink2
NVIDIA V100 GPUs have on-board RAM which is mapped into the host memory
space and accessible as normal RAM via an NVLink bus. The VFIO-PCI driver
implements special regions for such GPUs and emulates an NVLink bridge.
NVLink2-enabled POWER9 CPUs also provide address translation services
which includes an ATS shootdown (ATSD) register exported via the NVLink
bridge device.

This adds a quirk to VFIO to map the GPU memory and create an MR;
the new MR is stored in a PCI device as a QOM link. The sPAPR PCI uses
this to get the MR and map it to the system address space.
Another quirk does the same for ATSD.

This adds additional steps to sPAPR PHB setup:

1. Search for specific GPUs and NPUs, collect findings in
sPAPRPHBState::nvgpus, manage system address space mappings;

2. Add device-specific properties such as "ibm,npu", "ibm,gpu",
"memory-block", "link-speed" to advertise the NVLink2 function to
the guest;

3. Add "mmio-atsd" to vPHB to advertise the ATSD capability;

4. Add new memory blocks (with extra "linux,memory-usable" to prevent
the guest OS from accessing the new memory until it is onlined) and
npuphb# nodes representing an NPU unit for every vPHB as the GPU driver
uses it for link discovery.

This allocates space for GPU RAM and ATSD like we do for MMIOs by
adding 2 new parameters to the phb_placement() hook. Older machine types
set these to zero.

This puts new memory nodes in a separate NUMA node to as the GPU RAM
needs to be configured equally distant from any other node in the system.
Unlike the host setup which assigns numa ids from 255 downwards, this
adds new NUMA nodes after the user configures nodes or from 1 if none
were configured.

This adds requirement similar to EEH - one IOMMU group per vPHB.
The reason for this is that ATSD registers belong to a physical NPU
so they cannot invalidate translations on GPUs attached to another NPU.
It is guaranteed by the host platform as it does not mix NVLink bridges
or GPUs from different NPU in the same IOMMU group. If more than one
IOMMU group is detected on a vPHB, this disables ATSD support for that
vPHB and prints a warning.

Alexey Kardashevskiy 5f36666722 spapr_iommu: Do not replay mappings from just created DMA window
On sPAPR vfio_listener_region_add() is called in 2 situations:
1. a new listener is registered from vfio_connect_container();
2. a new IOMMU Memory Region is added from rtas_ibm_create_pe_dma_window().

In both cases vfio_listener_region_add() calls
memory_region_iommu_replay() to notify newly registered IOMMU notifiers
about existing mappings which is totally desirable for case 1.

However for case 2 it is nothing but noop as the window has just been
created and has no valid mappings so replaying those does not do anything.
It is barely noticeable with usual guests but if the window happens to be
really big, such no-op replay might take minutes and trigger RCU stall
warnings in the guest.

For example, a upcoming GPU RAM memory region mapped at 64TiB (right
after SPAPR_PCI_LIMIT) causes a 64bit DMA window to be at least 128TiB
which is (128<<40)/0x10000=2.147.483.648 TCEs to replay.

This mitigates the problem by adding an "skipping_replay" flag to
sPAPRTCETable and defining sPAPR own IOMMU MR replay() hook which does
exactly the same thing as the generic one except it returns early if
@skipping_replay==true.

Another way of fixing this would be delaying replay till the very first
H_PUT_TCE but this does not work if in-kernel H_PUT_TCE handler is
enabled (a likely case).

When "ibm,create-pe-dma-window" is complete, the guest will map only
required regions of the huge DMA window.

Alexey Kardashevskiy fd73745d1b configure: Enable werror for git worktrees
The configure script checks multiple times whether it works in a git
repository and it does this by "test -e "${source_path}/.git" in 4 cases
but in one case where it tries to enable werror "-d" is used there which
fails on git worktrees as .git is a file then and not a directory.

This changes the test to "-e" as other occurrences.

Alexey Kardashevskiy fea35ca4b8 ppc/spapr: Receive and store device tree blob from SLOF
SLOF receives a device tree and updates it with various properties
before switching to the guest kernel and QEMU is not aware of any changes
made by SLOF. Since there is no real RTAS (QEMU implements it), it makes
sense to pass the SLOF final device tree to QEMU to let it implement
RTAS related tasks better, such as PCI host bus adapter hotplug.

Specifially, now QEMU can find out the actual XICS phandle (for PHB
hotplug) and the RTAS linux,rtas-entry/base properties (for firmware
assisted NMI - FWNMI).

This stores the initial DT blob in the sPAPR machine and replaces it
in the KVMPPC_H_UPDATE_DT (new private hypercall) handler.

This adds an @update_dt_enabled machine property to allow backward
migration.

SLOF already has a hypercall since

This makes use of the new fdt_check_full() helper. In order to allow

Alexey Kardashevskiy 8994e91e96 spapr-iommu: Always advertise the maximum possible DMA window size
When deciding about the huge DMA window, the typical Linux pseries guest
uses the maximum allowed RAM size as the upper limit. We did the same
on QEMU side to match that logic. Now we are going to support a GPU RAM
pass through which is not available at the guest boot time as it requires
the guest driver interaction. As the result, the guest requests a smaller
window than it should. Therefore the guest needs to be patched to
understand this new memory and so does QEMU.

Instead of reimplementing here whatever solution we choose for the guest,
this advertises the biggest possible window size limited by 32 bit
(as defined by LoPAPR). Since the window size has to be power-of-two
(the create rtas call receives a window shift, not a size),
this uses 0x8000.0000 as the maximum number of TCEs possible (rather than
32bit maximum of 0xffff.ffff).

This is safe as:
1. The guest visible emulated table is allocated in KVM (actual pages
are allocated in page fault handler) and QEMU (actual pages are allocated
when updated);
2. The hardware table (and corresponding userspace address table)
supports sparse allocation and also checks for locked_vm limit so
it is unable to cause the host any damage.

Alexey Kardashevskiy c26bc185b7 vfio/spapr: Allow backing bigger guest IOMMU pages with smaller physical pages
At the moment the PPC64/pseries guest only supports 4K/64K/16M IOMMU
pages and POWER8 CPU supports the exact same set of page size so
so far things worked fine.

However POWER9 supports different set of sizes - 4K/64K/2M/1G and
the last two - 2M and 1G - are not even allowed in the paravirt interface
(RTAS DDW) so we always end up using 64K IOMMU pages, although we could
back guest's 16MB IOMMU pages with 2MB pages on the host.

This stores the supported host IOMMU page sizes in VFIOContainer and uses
this later when creating a new DMA window. This uses the system page size
(64k normally, 2M/16M/1G if hugepages used) as the upper limit of
the IOMMU pagesize.

This changes the type of @pagesize to uint64_t as this is what
memory_region_iommu_get_min_page_size() returns and clz64() takes.

There should be no behavioral changes on platforms other than pseries.
The guest will keep using the IOMMU page size selected by the PHB pagesize
property as this only changes the underlying hardware TCE table
granularity.

Alexey Kardashevskiy ae0215b2bb vfio-pci: Allow mmap of MSIX BAR
At the moment we unconditionally avoid mapping MSIX data of a BAR and
emulate MSIX table in QEMU. However it is 1) not always necessary as
a platform may provide a paravirt interface for MSIX configuration;
2) can affect the speed of MMIO access by emulating them in QEMU when
frequently accessed registers share same system page with MSIX data,
this is particularly a problem for systems with the page size bigger
than 4KB.

A new capability - VFIO_REGION_INFO_CAP_MSIX_MAPPABLE - has been added
to the kernel [1] which tells the userspace that mapping of the MSIX data
is possible now. This makes use of it so from now on QEMU tries mapping
the entire BAR as a whole and emulate MSIX on top of that.

Alexey Kardashevskiy 567b5b309a vfio/pci: Relax DMA map errors for MMIO regions
At the moment if vfio_memory_listener is registered in the system memory
address space, it maps/unmaps every RAM memory region for DMA.
It expects system page size aligned memory sections so vfio_dma_map
would not fail and so far this has been the case. A mapping failure
would be fatal. A side effect of such behavior is that some MMIO pages
would not be mapped silently.

However we are going to change MSIX BAR handling so we will end having
non-aligned sections in vfio_memory_listener (more details is in
the next patch) and vfio_dma_map will exit QEMU.

In order to avoid fatal failures on what previously was not a failure and
was just silently ignored, this checks the section alignment to
the smallest supported IOMMU page size and prints an error if not aligned;
it also prints an error if vfio_dma_map failed despite the page size check.
Both errors are not fatal; only MMIO RAM regions are checked
(aka "RAM device" regions).

If the amount of errors printed is overwhelming, the MSIX relocation
could be used to avoid excessive error output.

This is unlikely to cause any behavioral change.

There is already 'device-list-properties' which does most of the job,

It does not handle abstract classes either.

This adds a new qom-list-properties command which prints properties

of the device-list-properties handler.

Since it creates an object instance, device properties should appear
in the output as they are copied to QOM properties at the instance_init

The vfio_iommu_spapr_tce driver advertises kernel's support for

Alexey Kardashevskiy a93c8d828a virtio-pci: Replace modern_as with direct access to modern_bar
The modern bar is accessed now via yet another address space created just
for that purpose and it does not really need FlatView and dispatch tree

get even worse when there are dozens or hundreds of virtio-pci devices -
since these address spaces are global, changing any of them triggers
rebuilding all address spaces.

This replaces indirect accesses to the modern BAR with a simple lookup
and direct calls to memory_region_dispatch_read/write.

Alexey Kardashevskiy 092aa2fc65 memory: Share special empty FlatView
This shares an cached empty FlatView among address spaces. The empty
FV is used every time when a root MR renders into a FV without memory
sections which happens when MR or its children are not enabled or
zero-sized. The empty_view is not NULL to keep the rest of memory
API intact; it also has a dispatch tree for the same reason.

On POWER8 with 255 CPUs, 255 virtio-net, 40 PCI bridges guest this halves
the amount of FlatView's in use (557 -> 260) and dispatch tables
(~800000 -> ~370000).  In an unrelated experiment with 112 non-virtio

Alexey Kardashevskiy 8c37faa475 vfio-pci, ppc64/spapr: Reorder group-to-container attaching
At the moment VFIO PCI device initialization works as follows:
vfio_realize
	vfio_get_group
		vfio_connect_container
			register memory listeners (1)
			update QEMU groups lists
		vfio_kvm_device_add_group

Then (example for pseries) the machine reset hook triggers region_add()
for all regions where listeners from (1) are listening:

ppc_spapr_reset
	spapr_phb_reset
		spapr_tce_table_enable
			memory_region_add_subregion
				vfio_listener_region_add
					vfio_spapr_create_window

This scheme works fine until we need to handle VFIO PCI device hotplug
and we want to enable PPC64/sPAPR in-kernel TCE acceleration on,
i.e. after PCI hotplug we need a place to call
ioctl(vfio_kvm_device_fd, KVM_DEV_VFIO_GROUP_SET_SPAPR_TCE).
Since the ioctl needs a LIOBN fd (from sPAPRTCETable) and a IOMMU group fd
(from VFIOGroup), vfio_listener_region_add() seems to be the only place
for this ioctl().

However this only works during boot time because the machine reset
happens strictly after all devices are finalized. When hotplug happens,
vfio_listener_region_add() is called when a memory listener is registered
but when this happens:
1. new group is not added to the container->group_list yet;
2. VFIO KVM device is unaware of the new IOMMU group.

This moves bits around to have all necessary VFIO infrastructure
in place for both initial startup and hotplug cases.

[aw: ie, register vfio groups with kvm prior to memory listener
registration such that kvm-vfio pseudo device ioctls are available
during the region_add callback]

called, and do_pci_unregister_device() fails on
memory_region_del_subregion() as it was not mapped.

This adds a check that subregion was mapped before unmapping it.

Alexey Kardashevskiy c53598ed18 pci: Add missing drop of bus master AS reference
The recent introduction of a bus master container added
memory_region_add_subregion() into the PCI device registering path but
missed memory_region_del_subregion() in the unregistering path leaving
a reference to the root memory region of the new container.

This adds missing memory_region_del_subregion().

Alexey Kardashevskiy 9c60766887 exec, kvm, target-ppc: Move getrampagesize() to common code
getrampagesize() returns the largest supported page size and mainly
used to know if huge pages are enabled.

However is implemented in target-ppc/kvm.c and not available
in TCG or other architectures.

This renames and moves gethugepagesize() to mmap-alloc.c where
fd-based analog of it is already implemented. This renames and moves
getrampagesize() to exec.c as it seems to be the common place for
helpers like this.

Alexey Kardashevskiy 225a9ab883 configure, ppc64: Copy skiboot.lid to build directory when configuring
When configured to compile out of tree, the configure script
copies BIOS blobs to the build directory. However since the PPC64 powernv
machine ROM has .lid extension, it is ignored and "make check" fails
when trying the powernv machine.

This adds *.lid to the list of copied blobs.
