At the moment the PPC64/pseries guest only supports 4K/64K/16M IOMMU
pages and POWER8 CPU supports the exact same set of page size so
so far things worked fine.
However POWER9 supports different set of sizes - 4K/64K/2M/1G and
the last two - 2M and 1G - are not even allowed in the paravirt interface
(RTAS DDW) so we always end up using 64K IOMMU pages, although we could
back guest's 16MB IOMMU pages with 2MB pages on the host.
This stores the supported host IOMMU page sizes in VFIOContainer and uses
this later when creating a new DMA window. This uses the system page size
(64k normally, 2M/16M/1G if hugepages used) as the upper limit of
the IOMMU pagesize.
This changes the type of @pagesize to uint64_t as this is what
memory_region_iommu_get_min_page_size() returns and clz64() takes.
There should be no behavioral changes on platforms other than pseries.
The guest will keep using the IOMMU page size selected by the PHB pagesize
property as this only changes the underlying hardware TCE table
granularity.

The recently introduced qom-list-properties QMP command raised
a question what properties it (and its cousin - device-list-properties)
can possibly print - only those defined by DeviceClass::props
or dynamically created in TypeInfo::instance_init() so properties created
elsewhere won't show up and this behaviour might confuse the user.
For example, PIIX4 does that from piix4_pm_realize() via
piix4_pm_add_propeties():
object_property_add_uint8_ptr(OBJECT(s), ACPI_PM_PROP_ACPI_ENABLE_CMD,
&acpi_enable_cmd, NULL);

At the moment the device tree produced by the H_CAS handler has no
reserved map initialized at all which is not correct as at least one
empty record is required to be present as a marker of the end.
This does not cause problems now as the only consumer is SLOF which
does not look at the reserved map area.
However when DTC's "Improve libfdt's memory safety" changeset hits
the QEMU upstream, there will be errors reported and crashes observed.

so MMIO memory regions do not get split into chunks in flatview and

At the moment we unconditionally avoid mapping MSIX data of a BAR and
emulate MSIX table in QEMU. However it is 1) not always necessary as
a platform may provide a paravirt interface for MSIX configuration;
2) can affect the speed of MMIO access by emulating them in QEMU when
frequently accessed registers share same system page with MSIX data,
this is particularly a problem for systems with the page size bigger
than 4KB.
A new capability - VFIO_REGION_INFO_CAP_MSIX_MAPPABLE - has been added
to the kernel [1] which tells the userspace that mapping of the MSIX data
is possible now. This makes use of it so from now on QEMU tries mapping
the entire BAR as a whole and emulate MSIX on top of that.

At the moment if vfio_memory_listener is registered in the system memory
address space, it maps/unmaps every RAM memory region for DMA.
It expects system page size aligned memory sections so vfio_dma_map
would not fail and so far this has been the case. A mapping failure
would be fatal. A side effect of such behavior is that some MMIO pages
would not be mapped silently.
However we are going to change MSIX BAR handling so we will end having
non-aligned sections in vfio_memory_listener (more details is in
the next patch) and vfio_dma_map will exit QEMU.
In order to avoid fatal failures on what previously was not a failure and
was just silently ignored, this checks the section alignment to
the smallest supported IOMMU page size and prints an error if not aligned;
it also prints an error if vfio_dma_map failed despite the page size check.
Both errors are not fatal; only MMIO RAM regions are checked
(aka "RAM device" regions).
If the amount of errors printed is overwhelming, the MSIX relocation
could be used to avoid excessive error output.
This is unlikely to cause any behavioral change.

however it does not handle everything returned by qom-list-types such

It does not handle abstract classes either.
This adds a new qom-list-properties command which prints properties

of the device-list-properties handler.
Since it creates an object instance, device properties should appear
in the output as they are copied to QOM properties at the instance_init

as it has a single memory region so it is just a waste of memory. Things

At the moment VFIO PCI device initialization works as follows:
vfio_realize
vfio_get_group
vfio_connect_container
register memory listeners (1)
update QEMU groups lists
vfio_kvm_device_add_group
Then (example for pseries) the machine reset hook triggers region_add()
for all regions where listeners from (1) are listening:
ppc_spapr_reset
spapr_phb_reset
spapr_tce_table_enable
memory_region_add_subregion
vfio_listener_region_add
vfio_spapr_create_window
This scheme works fine until we need to handle VFIO PCI device hotplug
and we want to enable PPC64/sPAPR in-kernel TCE acceleration on,
i.e. after PCI hotplug we need a place to call
ioctl(vfio_kvm_device_fd, KVM_DEV_VFIO_GROUP_SET_SPAPR_TCE).
Since the ioctl needs a LIOBN fd (from sPAPRTCETable) and a IOMMU group fd
(from VFIOGroup), vfio_listener_region_add() seems to be the only place
for this ioctl().
However this only works during boot time because the machine reset
happens strictly after all devices are finalized. When hotplug happens,
vfio_listener_region_add() is called when a memory listener is registered
but when this happens:
1. new group is not added to the container->group_list yet;
2. VFIO KVM device is unaware of the new IOMMU group.
This moves bits around to have all necessary VFIO infrastructure
in place for both initial startup and hotplug cases.
[aw: ie, register vfio groups with kvm prior to memory listener
registration such that kvm-vfio pseudo device ioctls are available
during the region_add callback]

This adds support for Dynamic DMA Windows (DDW) option defined by
the SPAPR specification which allows to have additional DMA window(s)
The "ddw" property is enabled by default on a PHB but for compatibility
the pseries-2.6 machine and older disable it.
This also creates a single DMA window for the older machines to
maintain backward migration.
This implements DDW for PHB with emulated and VFIO devices. The host
kernel support is required. The advertised IOMMU page sizes are 4K and
64K; 16M pages are supported but not advertised by default, in order to
enable them, the user has to specify "pgsz" property for PHB and
enable huge pages for RAM.
The existing linux guests try creating one additional huge DMA window
with 64K or 16MB pages and map the entire guest RAM to. If succeeded,
the guest switches to dma_direct_ops and never calls TCE hypercalls
(H_PUT_TCE,...) again. This enables VFIO devices to use the entire RAM
and not waste time on map/unmap later. This adds a "dma64_win_addr"
property which is a bus address for the 64bit window and by default
set to 0x800.0000.0000.0000 as this is what the modern POWER8 hardware
uses and this allows having emulated and VFIO devices on the same bus.
This adds 4 RTAS handlers:
* ibm,query-pe-dma-window
* ibm,create-pe-dma-window
* ibm,remove-pe-dma-window
* ibm,reset-pe-dma-window
These are registered from type_init() callback.
These RTAS handlers are implemented in a separate file to avoid polluting
spapr_iommu.c with PCI.
This changes sPAPRPHBState::dma_liobn to an array to allow 2 LIOBNs
and updates all references to dma_liobn. However this does not add
64bit LIOBN to the migration stream as in fact even 32bit LIOBN is
rather pointless there (as it is a PHB property and the management
software can/should pass LIOBNs via CLI) but we keep it for the backward
migration support.

New VFIO_SPAPR_TCE_v2_IOMMU type supports dynamic DMA window management.
This adds ability to VFIO common code to dynamically allocate/remove

This adds a helper to vfio_listener_region_add which makes
VFIO_IOMMU_SPAPR_TCE_CREATE ioctl and adds just created IOMMU into

This makes use of the new "memory registering" feature. The idea is
to provide the userspace ability to notify the host kernel about pages
which are going to be used for DMA. Having this information, the host
kernel can pin them all once per user process, do locked pages
accounting (once) and not spent time on doing that in real time with
possible failures which cannot be handled nicely in some cases.
This adds a prereg memory listener which listens on address_space_memory
and notifies a VFIO container about memory which needs to be
pinned/unpinned. VFIO MMIO regions (i.e. "skip dump" regions) are skipped.
The feature is only enabled for SPAPR IOMMU v2. The host kernel changes
are required. Since v2 does not need/support VFIO_IOMMU_ENABLE, this does
not call it when v2 is detected and enabled.
This enforces guest RAM blocks to be host page size aligned; however
this is not new as KVM already requires memory slots to be host page
size aligned.

The sPAPR TCE tables manage 2 copies when VFIO is using an IOMMU -
a guest view of the table and a hardware TCE table. If there is no VFIO
presense in the address space, then just the guest view is used, if
this is the case, it is allocated in the KVM. However since there is no
support yet for VFIO in KVM TCE hypercalls, when we start using VFIO,
we need to move the guest view from KVM to the userspace; and we need
to do this for every IOMMU on a bus with VFIO devices.
This implements the callbacks for the sPAPR IOMMU - notify_started()
reallocated the guest view to the user space, notify_stopped() does
the opposite.
This removes explicit spapr_tce_set_need_vfio() call from PCI hotplug
path as the new callbacks do this better - they notify IOMMU at
the exact moment when the configuration is changed, and this also
includes the case of PCI hot unplug.

This adds a get_min_page_size callback to MemoryRegionIOMMUOps and

We are going to have multiple DMA windows at different offsets on
a PCI bus. For the sake of migration, we will have as many TCE table
objects pre-created as many windows supported.
So we need a way to map windows dynamically onto a PCI bus
when migration of a table is completed but at this stage a TCE table
object does not have access to a PHB to ask it to map a DMA window
backed by just migrated TCE table.
This adds a "root" memory region (UINT64_MAX long) to the TCE object.
This new region is mapped on a PCI bus with enabled overlapping as
there will be one root MR per TCE table, each of them mapped at 0.
The actual IOMMU memory region is a subregion of the root region and
a TCE table enables/disables this subregion and maps it at
the specific offset inside the root MR which is 1:1 mapping of
a PCI address space.

Currently TCE tables are created once at start and their sizes never
change. We are going to change that by introducing a Dynamic DMA windows
support where DMA configuration may change during the guest execution.
This changes spapr_tce_new_table() to create an empty zero-size IOMMU
memory region (IOMMU MR). Only LIOBN is assigned by the time of creation.
It still will be called once at the owner object (VIO or PHB) creation.
This introduces an "enabled" state for TCE table objects, some
helper functions are added:
- spapr_tce_table_enable() receives TCE table parameters, stores in
sPAPRTCETable and allocates a guest view of the TCE table
(in the user space or KVM) and sets the correct size on the IOMMU MR;
- spapr_tce_table_disable() disposes the table and resets the IOMMU MR
size; it is made public as the following DDW code will be using it.
This changes the PHB reset handler to do the default DMA initialization
instead of spapr_phb_realize(). This does not make differenct now but
later with more than just one DMA window, we will have to remove them all
and create the default one on a system reset.
No visible change in behaviour is expected except the actual table
will be reallocated every reset. We might optimize this later.
The other way to implement this would be dynamically create/remove
the TCE table QOM objects but this would make migration impossible
as the migration code expects all QOM objects to exist at the receiver
so we have to have TCE table objects created when migration begins.

At the moment IOMMU MR only translate to the system memory.
However if some new code changes this, we will need clear indication why
it is not working so here is the check.

Since a788f227 "memory: Allow replay of IOMMU mapping notifications"
when new VFIO listener is added, all existing IOMMU mappings are
replayed. However there is a problem that the base address of
an IOMMU memory region (IOMMU MR) is ignored which is not a problem
for the existing user (which is pseries) with its default 32bit DMA
window starting at 0 but it is if there is another DMA window.
This stores the IOMMU's offset_within_address_space and adjusts
the IOVA before calling vfio_dma_map/vfio_dma_unmap.
As the IOMMU notifier expects IOVA offset rather than the absolute
address, this also adjusts IOVA in sPAPR H_PUT_TCE handler before
calling notifier(s).

7532d3cbf "vfio: Fix 128 bit handling" added support for 64bit IOMMU
memory regions when those are added to VFIO address space; however
removing code cannot cope with these as int128_get64() will fail on
1<<64.
This copies 128bit handling from region_add() to region_del().
Since the only machine type which is actually going to use 64bit IOMMU
is pseries and it never really removes them (instead it will dynamically
add/remove subregions), this should cause no behavioral change.

ePAPR defines "hcall-instructions" device-tree property which contains
code to call hypercalls in ePAPR paravirtualized guests. In general
pseries guests won't use this property, instead using the PAPR defined
hypercall interface.
However, this property has been re-used to implement a hack to allow
PR KVM to run (slightly modified) guests in some situations where it
otherwise wouldn't be able to (because the system's L0 hypervisor
doesn't forward the PAPR hypercalls to the PR KVM kernel).
Hence, this property is always present in the device tree for pseries
guests. All KVM guests use it at least to read features via the
KVM_HC_FEATURES hypercall.
The property is populated by the code returned from the KVM's
KVM_PPC_GET_PVINFO ioctl; if not implemented in the KVM, QEMU supplies
code which will fail all hypercall attempts. If QEMU does not create
the property, and the guest kernel is compiled with
CONFIG_EPAPR_PARAVIRT (which is normally the case), there is exactly
the same stub at @epapr_hypercall_start already.
Rather than maintaining this fairly useless stub implementation, it
makes more sense not to create the property in the device tree in the
first place if the host kernel does not implement it.
This changes kvmppc_get_hypercall() to return 1 if the host kernel
does not implement KVM_CAP_PPC_GET_PVINFO. The caller can use it to decide
on whether to create the property or not.
This changes the pseries machine to not create the property if KVM does
not implement KVM_PPC_GET_PVINFO. In practice this means that from now
on the property will not be created if either HV KVM or TCG is used.

Section B.6.2.1 Root Node Properties of PAPR specification defines
a set of properties which shall be present in the device tree root,
one of these properties is "system-id" which "should be unique across
all systems and all manufacturers". Since UUID is meant to be unique,
it makes sense to use it as "system-id".
This adds "system-id" property to the device tree root when not empty.

At the moment get_monitor_def() returns only registers from statically
defined monitor_defs array. However there is a lot of BOOK3S SPRs
which are not in the list and cannot be printed from the monitor.
This adds a new target platform hook - target_get_monitor_def().
The hook is called if a register was not found in the static
array returned by the target_monitor_defs() hook.
The hook is only defined for POWERPC, it returns registered
SPRs and fails on unregistered ones providing the user with information
on what is actually supported on the running CPU. The register value is
saved as uint64_t as it is the biggest supported register size;
target_ulong cannot be used because of the stub - it is in a "common"
code and cannot include "cpu.h", etc; this is also why the hook prototype
is redefined in the stub instead of being included from some header.
This replaces static descriptors for GPRs, FPRs, SRs with a helper which
looks for a value in a corresponding array in the CPUPPCState.
The immediate effect is that all 32 SRs can be printed now (instead of 16);
later this can be reused for VSX or TM registers.
This replaces callbacks for MSR and XER with static descriptors in
monitor_defs as they are stored in CPUPPCState.
While we are here, this adds "cr" as a synonym of "ccr".

As the comment in kvm_set_phys_mem() says, KVM works in page size chunks.
However it uses hardcoded TARGET_PAGE_SIZE which is 4K on most platforms
while actual host may use different page size, for example, PPC64 hosts
use 64K system pages.
This replaces static TARGET_PAGE_SIZE with run-time calculated
qemu_real_host_page_size.

sPAPR uses hard coded limit of maximum 255 supported CPUs which is
exactly the same as QEMU-wide limit which is MAX_CPUMASK_BITS and also
defined as 255.
This makes use of a global CPU number limit for the "pseries" machine.
In order to anticipate future increase of the MAX_CPUMASK_BITS
(or to help debugging large systems), this also bumps the FDT_MAX_SIZE
limit from 256K to 1M assuming that 1 CPU core needs roughly 512 bytes
in the device tree so the new limit can cover up to 2048 CPU cores.

For setting debug watchpoints, sPAPR guests use H_SET_MODE hypercall.
The existing QEMU H_SET_MODE handler does not support this but
the KVM handler in HV KVM does. However it is not enabled.
This enables the in-kernel H_SET_MODE handler which handles:
- Completed Instruction Address Breakpoint Register
- Watch point 0 registers.
The rest is still handled in QEMU.

On systems with guest visible IOMMU, adding a new memory region onto
PCI bus calls vfio_listener_region_add() for every DMA window. This
installs a notifier for IOMMU memory regions. The notifier is supposed
to be removed vfio_listener_region_del(), however in the case of mixed
PHB (emulated + VFIO devices) when last VFIO device is unplugged and
container gets destroyed, all existing DMA windows stay alive altogether
with the notifiers which are on the linked list which head was in
the destroyed container.
This unregisters IOMMU memory region notifier when a container is
destroyed.
